Tip 4

ADJUST YOUR RIBS

To decompress your spine and support a functional core

  • Your rib cage is somewhat like a cylinder that, when in neutral, it is positioned directly above your pelvis such that the lower front ribs are in a vertical line with your ASIS bones.

  • Find your ASIS bones again. They are the two prominent bones on the front of your pelvis. And place your index or middle fingers on those bones.

  • Now draw a vertical line up toward your ribs and place your thumbs on your ribcage.

  • While maintaining a neutral alignment of your pelvis, make your ribs line up vertically with your ASIS bones by bringing your chest forward, like you are hunching forward, and bring your lower front ribs back and down.
